Bentonite is a natural, clay-like material of volcanic origin, which is geologically a form of montmorillonite, a smectite clay. It is a complex sodium, calcium, and aluminum silicate, and when hydrated it becomes a powerful adsorbent that can be used to clarify beer.
Usually added prior to fermentation, sometimes during secondary to wine.
Rehydrate prior to using.
Dosage: use 30 - 80 grams per 100 L
Instruction for use: Pour Bentonite gradually into 20 times its weight of cold water (ratio 1/20). Stir vigorously. Leave to stand for 3 - 6 hours. Homegenoize the solution and add it to the must while pumping over.
